In cases where preliminary planning examinations show that the bone supply is insufficient for the implant to be inserted, bone grafting procedures, so-called augmentation treatments, may be necessary. Typically, this might become necessary as a consequence of the following medical conditions:
- previous inflammatory processes,
- severe periodontal disease,
- difficult, traumatic tooth extraction,
- injury in an accident,
- atrophy of bone tissue due to loss of function.
Bone grafting can be performed with synthetic bone, your own bone or a mixture of both. An example for the latter is the use of the bone edges surrounding the implant.
With the latest surgical procedures and the tools available to us, another operation (skull, hip, tibia and fibula) for bone extraction can be avoided.
In our clinic, special, minimally invasive methods and techniques ensure faster healing and fewer complications for our patients. One of the methods available is the DENSAH drilling system, which can be used to avoid major bone replacement surgeries such as lateral sinus lifts and lateral augmentation even with limited bone supply. With this procedure, there is minimal trauma to the body from the procedure and implant placement.
This is an approach, a dentist’s aspiration, which never affects the quality of the final result.
