The use of navigated implant surgery systems is a state-of-the-art procedure. Its application is particularly effective in treating extensive tooth loss, such as simultaneous implant placement, where it is necessary to improve spatial accuracy. The CT scan and intraoral scan are imported into a special planning software, DTX Studio, which allows virtual pre-planning of the implant position. This situation is captured by the so-called surgical template, which is carved out in the US using CAD-CAM technology and sent to us by Nobel Biocare. By fixing the template in a fixed position during surgery, we can insert digitally designed implants with millimetre precision.
During navigated implantation surgery, the drilling and implantation is done through the holes in the surgical template. In this way, the highest possible spatial accuracy can be achieved, often avoiding the need for bone replacement surgery. An additional advantage is that surgical procedures can be performed more quickly and patients typically report little discomfort even with a larger number of implants.
